Concentric Development’s purpose is to help non-profit organizations achieve more with their resources.
Bridging the Gap
People give generously to help the poor around the world, whether it’s clean water, health, education, small loans for the poor, or programs for widows and orphans. But these efforts often make very little long-term difference in people’s lives. Raising funds is not a problem but using them effectively often is. Concentric Development exists to bridge this gap. We work with organizations to achieve the full potential of the resources that have been entrusted to them. We don’t help organizations raise money. Rather, we exist to help organizations use more effectively the money they have raised.
We also help national governments deploy resources at the local level where decisions can be made to meet unique local needs.
What Qualifies Us
Having grown up in the South Asia we’ve seen first hand the difficulties and obstacles the poor face around the world. Professionally we have spent more than 25 years in the developing world working to transform the lives of the poor. We know what works. Through Concentric, we are not trying to do the work of other organizations. Instead, we equip organizations to do their work better, including local, provincial and national governments, enabling them to achieve more with public funds and the generous gifts of others.
What is Different About Concentric Development
A high percentage of Concentric’s work is with organizations that can’t afford to hire outside expertise. They are often organizations run in poor parts of the world by people native to the area. These organizations have the most to benefit by learning what others have discovered. Often they have developed innovative solutions to tough problems others also face, and we help them document and communicate these discoveries. This is critical work that few are doing.
Our Strengths
We bring extensive experience in the field of international development and public policy in multiple sectors and at levels ranging from the individual household all the way to regional and national policy. One of our strengths is the ability to see local development efforts from multiple perspectives. We understand how the political economy, legal environment, national and international economic frameworks and public policy can deeply impact and sometimes undermine heroic work done at the community and local levels.
We also understand the strengths and weaknesses, cultures and mindsets of a wide variety of institutions.
Our greatest strength is in coming alongside implementers and applying our experience, perspectives and insights to jointly discover solutions to local problems, new approaches to difficult challenges as well as new opportunities to meaningfully impact lives. We don’t so much bring solutions, but help organizations adapt the experience of others to their unique environment in ways that result in greater effectiveness.
Concentric Development is a 501 (C)(3)
